Chris Stephens has many years experience in Defence international engagement, government relations and defence industry. Holding positions such as; RAN Officer until 1989; National Executive Director position in a national sporting organisation during bidding for the 2000 Sydney Olympics; 1992 to late-1990’s he was a consultant Project Manager advising private and public sectors; Manager the Pacific Defence Cooperation Program in International Policy Division; 2004 he was appointed Director of Coordination for a Senate Inquiry into Military Justice for six months; Seconded to the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, California and Washington, DC as co-author of a series of high level Australian / U.S. interoperability reports until 2008; Deputy Head Cadet Reserve and Employer Division later becoming its full-time Chief of Staff and Executive Director Plans, Policy and International Engagement; 2008 to 2010; 2010 to 2019 Chris was a Senior Advisor to two Chiefs of the Defence Force and four Chiefs of Navy. He
provided written and verbal advice on capability investment, procurement, governance policies and strategic risk. During this time, Chris represented Navy on the Foreign Investment Review Board, National Security Working Group. All these appointments brought him into close contact with Ministers, senior staff, systems of government and Industry. Chris is a Co-Director of Glengarry Advisory Services.
